Redcar Tarn twitch.

With heavy rain and low cloud mid p.m. and wondering where to go in the conditions I opted for a trip to Redcar Tarn in search of the Ist winter Iceland gull following a call from KM this lunch time.
                                                         The weather at the Tarn was grim but the birding was excellent with hoards of gulls , wildfowl and Lapwings. With heavy rain then drizzle it was hard to sift through the gulls which were spread out over several fields as well as on the water so after an uneventful search it was take photos of the most likely candidates and check them out at home though nothing was resembling an Iceland.

                                            6 Oystercatchers present

Footnote.. 2 Sand Martins are back at Swillington today.
                Still no reply with any Barnacle goose ring info only to say its been passed on to the wildfowl dept.
