Bogey bird nailed. Soil Hill Woodcock

Woodcock which unfortunately flew right across the sun

                                       Skylark up singing

A bright late pm on Soil Hill and a productive hour.
Whilst treading the sloppy area for Jack Snipe I almost stood on what I first thought Snipe till I realized it was a Woodcock. I had about 10 seconds to snap away at it but unfortunately it flew towards the west summit right across the low sun.
Also present were 8 Meadow Pipits, 4 Skylark, one of which was up singing, 1 Mistle Thrush and several Starling.

As far as blog reports go, this is only the second Woodcock this Autumn/Winter since mid October. It's also the first time in a number of years that I've not had one.

Its just about the first time in years that I,ve had one, never mind not had one.

Had the camera at the ready for Jack Snipe Dave so it was a quick aim, fire and hope for the best.
