Another day, another Dunlin. Fly Flatts.

Dunlins now a common bird at Fly Flatts

Wasnt going to get photos today but can,t resist them.

                                        Same with Common Sandpipers.

Unfortunately the weather from yesterday didnt hold and again we,re back to blue skies and sunshine which instantly kills Fly Flatts off at this time of year. Yesterday in the damp and mist the place was alive but today the sky and water was empty with just a few waders around the shoreline.
A count of 8 Dunlin today but some disturbance on the west bank with sun seekers so stuck to the east and south end  where all the activity seemed to be.
When the Dunlins first started to appear it was an exciting time but now when I see a wader and scan it I think, " just another Dunlin".
The shoreline is in really good form now with still time to pick up a migrant or two or non breeders and by July the early breeders will be coming back with hopefully Greenshank making an appearance after last years poor show.
Redshank have bred well this year but Curlew numbers are well down with only around 6 pairs throughout the area.
Strangely not a Swift in sight today after yesterdays big move which can , once again, be blamed on the weather.
So a quiet session and back home where some rolls of wallpaper were waiting for me to stick them on the wall, you can,t have fun all the time.
