Heron on the mill pond
105 Canadas present in the field
Two Oystercatchers
The female is on the right ! Sorry girls !
Barnacles seem to stay at Fly Flatts lately.
And you wonder why I hate this weather ! 1600 hrs and with 1 hour to spare I headed for Soil Hill where 3 lots of dog walkers were heading up dog cack alley. Time to move on and knowing that Ogden would be heaving it was on to Mixenden reservoir which, as expected, was like Blackpool front on a wakes weekend. Time was running out so it was head for the next nearest venue, Cold Edge Dams where unusually, 4 cars were parked.
Another downer to find people swimming in Leadbeater Dam and kids playing by Haigh Cote Dam so that left me with the goose field and Mill dam which held 105 Canadas, 1 Heron and 2 Oystercatchers. A couple of Curlews went overhead along with 1 LBB gull whilst interesting to see 4 Greenfinch in the small plantation, not a common bird at the moment round here. Knowing it was sailing evening at Fly Flatts and time almost gone it was tackle up and head for home.
Thank goodness that a Bank Holiday weekend is approaching so we,re sure to get rid of this weather.
Sorry for being selfish.
