The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Back to Autumn vis mig

Pink Footed Geese over Soil Hill

A cracking male Wigeon

Ogden 0745-1ooohrs Very ice, grey skies, some drizzle.

Who said local birding gets boring? This morning was like an autumn vis mig day with Wigeon on the water as well as Med gull, Pintails flying overhead which came so fast all I got on a photo was 3 blurs and some tree branches, and to round it off when I was back at the car at Ned Hill firstly a flock of unidentified ducks east over Calderdale and 2 Skiens of PF Geese which went low over Soil Hill. All this and only 5 minutes from home. Thought the morning started bad when I was flat on my back on the ice along Ogden Lane, thank goodness for rucksacks, but after that it was all sunshine and roses.

Helluva morning; great compensation for being stuck at work where you missed all the ice and snow!
