This is the question we use to ask as DCB, HC and myself were doing vis mig at Oxenhope.
We always wondered how many moving redwings were shot out of the sky on 5th of November by fireworks. Sounds silly but something to think about.
A very windy start to the day today but HC soon had me gazing skywards when he rang me at 0740hrs reporting 2 Whooper Swans which were initially heading straight towards me but then veered SW towards Swalesmoor and Ringby, thanks for that Howard, could have got a garden tick there.
The wind soon dropped leaving a decent morning until early p.m. when the rain came. Woodpigeons came over in decent numbers >S but this dried up by 0900hrs leaving it quiet until mid p.m. when Fieldfares started coming over in the heavy rain also >S.
Spoke to CK at the garage and he confirmed plenty Fieldfare about with good numbers of Fieldfare and Redwing in the berry trees but he has,nt repeated his report of a couple of years back when he turned up a Waxwing at Oats Royd, still chance yet Chris.
Woodpigeon...................... 140 >S
Fieldfare.................................80 >S
