The Breeding Season

As from now until the end of the breeding season birds of a sensitive nature will be omitted from this blog due to a small percentage of undesirables who take their pleasure from egg collecting, nest destroying and the killing and trapping of birds.
Reports of non breeding birds moving through the area will still be published. BS

Soil Hill

Umpteen Linnets all over the hill

Very mobile flock of 100+ with other smaller flocks

Several juv gulls through

Ive told Nigel and his mates from the con. club to stick
to the path.

A blustery Soil Hill pm but bright sunshine. W>5
Linnets were everywhere with the main flock of 100 + and several small break away flocks very mobile and stopping to feed for a few minutes then off again to another spot.
LBB gulls were coming through >W into the wind and Swallows still continued to move >S through the col but in much less numbers than this morning. No signs of Swift.
Checked the bottom end of the hill around the dried up pond but no passerines.

Fantastic flock of Linnets up there and good to get some decent shots , let's hope they stay around a while. Wonder if you will get some Twite with them - not a sign of any Twite at Fly Flats this last 2 weeks even though seed is down - mind you it might keep getting washed away!
