FLY FLATTS                                              A foggy walk on the west bank

OGDEN.                                    Around 40 small gulls

                                        A good count of 9 Herring

                                                LBB retaining its pink legs, other leg tucked up.

Fog patches early morn as I arrived at Fly Flatts soon closing in to dense fog and drizzle lifting briefly before coming in again. Throughout the watch the fog was coming and going until finally clearing just after 0930 hrs on a light SW>2 at 8 degrees.

                      Just 2 Tufted on the water along with 12 BH , 2 LBB and a single Common gull whilst nothing on the shore other than a few Red Grouse. A good sign of autumn/winter with an adult Great Black Backed gull over >SW, my first of the year with none being seen over winter, early in the year.

                     As the fog lifted a group of 34 Meadow Pipits flew in and dropped onto the south shore closely followed by 10 Pied Wagtails which only stayed briefly before I had chance to check them for whites.

           A mid afternoon check of the Ogden gulls to make sure the Caspian was,nt with them found a low count but 9 Herring gulls was pleasing for this site.
