Fly Flatts , late afternoon

                                                1 of 2 distant Wigeon

Very mobile moving around the reservoir

                                                     Settled on the north shore

Greenland Wheatear , large, long legged very bright
buff bird. Stood out at long distance from Northerns.

                                                   Single Whinchat

                                                           7 Stonechat

A late afternoon dash to Fly Flatts but unexpectedly paid dividends. Broken cloud and sunshine with some very dark clouds moving over and light rain showers on a SE>3 at 18 degrees.
What I expected to be a poor visit, given the time of day ,turned out to be a lively hour with action from start to finish.
Two Wigeon were on the waters edge by the far bank before flying over to the north shore whilst the 3 juv and 1 adult Ringed Plover were over in the NW corner, what did we do before the days of scopes?
A noisy Raven flew over whilst 6 Black Headed gulls were on the water though the pre roost big gulls had already left the area.
Small passerines were lively with at least 9 Wheatear on the shore with a Greenland standing out by size and bright colour making it look to be illuminated against the black mud.
A small group of 7 Stonechat were active with a single Whinchat, Reed Bunting and Wren mixed in with them.
