A tribute to lost sailing club members and an afternoon visit to Fly Flatts. ( permit only)

An atmospheric photo of Fly Flatts taken yesterday evening at
a memorial meeting for active club members lost in the past 12 month.
R.I.P. Kevin Holmes, Colin Vickerman and George Carter. They will
no doubt be greatly missed at the boatyard.
Photo by courtesy of William Redman, ( Commodore).

                                             male Greenland Wheatear.
Very long legged with deep buff breast
                                                 showing 7 primary tips

                                                1 of 9 Stonechat

                                         Single juv Tufted duck
                                                Dazzled against sun angle.

Another late afternoon visit to Fly Flatts in difficult conditions with the low sun in the west dazzling on the water and throwing everything into silhouette. Broken cloud at 16 degrees on a light SE>3.
Once again it was small passerines that stole the show with at least 12 Wheatear on the northern bank, 2 of which were Greenlands, being large butch looking birds with long legs and a deep buff breast. A count of 9 Stonechat were around the compound fence but no sign of the recent Whinchats.
Several Swallows were heading >S in migration mode whilst 2 Raven were over the quarry.
No sign today of the 4 Ringed Plovers though scoping was difficult looking into the sun.
