Common Sandpipers back, Fly Flatts

The islands attracting the waders, 2 of 5 Redshank
Unusual for big gulls here, mainly Herrings

                                                   Barny in to land

Common Sandpipers back, 1 of 3

A bright clear sunny morning at Fly Flatts with a light E>3 and temperature of 11 degrees.
A long walk down the north path to the NW corner was,nt up to much with public all ready present at 0800 hrs but it gave the team a good walk and produced the first Common Sandpiper of the year.
Back down  by the boatyard was a hive of activity, despite me stood like a lollipop man in my bright hi vis vest , weith waders attracted to the islands now showing at the SE corner. At one point 5 Redshank and 2 Lapwing were present.
Another 2 Common Sandpipers appeared both feeding up then sleeping after their journey here. Unusual to see so many big gulls across on the north shore with around 22 Herring and 9 LBBs which stayed on the banking throughout. A single Snipe was up drumming otherwise it was the usual species.
Good to get back up there although I have to admit defeat and lose the west bank.
