The boat men agreed with me about the weather.
No good for sailing with no wind.
No records broken today.
Male Wheatear, 1 of 3
1515 hrs and as this morning the weather was what I class as atrocious with only 20 % cloud cover and a light SE>2-3 with hot sunshine.
The boats were out on the water with very little wind in their sails to keep them moving whilst a wind surfer nearly ended up paddling his board back to shore.
This weather may be ok if you,re on Blackpools south shore but certainly no good for anything else.
Bird wise it was as this mornings session less the gull move with all the usual species including 3 male Wheatear in the feeding area and again no hirundine or Swift.
A local birder that walks the moor regular up there informed me that walking up the valley by the stream where the Canadas nest he discovered at least 100 eggs smashed from the nests. Whether this is an organized cull to keep numbers down I don,t know. Canada geese are no threat to the game keepers so possibly something to do with YW or there,s a nugget on the loose.
