A cracking mornings watch at Fly Flatts in still conditions with 90 % cloud cover. By 0830 hrs the wind had increased to SSW>3 with some dark clouds.
With the air so still bird calls could be heard, not usually a thing you can rely on at Fly Flatts with the noise of the wind usually blanking them out, with a Curlew calling for the first 20 minutes from the moor over by Winnie Rock. Several Golden Plover were also calling from the flat moor.
A Raven headed high and >NE over the bumps whilst Canada geese were dropping in throughout with a total of 18 now, several pairing up.
The Greylag from yesterday was still on the east bank amongst a flock of 17 Lapwing and 6 BH gulls and after calling for 15 minutes a second Greylag came in and landed on the water. The first Greylag joined it on the water then both birds took off together lifting very high and >NW.
At least 7 Meadow Pipits were present in the heather whilst 10 Herring gulls flew overhead >SW.
On the way back 2 Oystercatchers flew over the road towards Cold Edge Dams.
Still no blast off of Pinkies this morning with just a midday grapevine of 50 >NW over Ringstone A.T.
