1500 hrs and teeming down with rain and sleet on a cold ENE>4 but with reports of Kittiwake in the area and a good month for Whooper I thought I,d better get over to Ogden and give it a check, just the conditions for an odd sea bird.
This of course did,nt transpire, just the opposite, with not a single gull of any description on the water and yesterdays Cormorant moved on leaving nothing but Mallards.
The hardy Kingfisher was on its usual perch down in the sluice gate area along with a Pied Wagtail whilst the info centre feeding area was alive with 5 Robins, 3 Dunnock, 2 Nuthatch and several Blue, Great and Coal Tits.
On the way home a single Curlew flew from the goose field above the Ned Hill track and headed over the col towards Ogden.
A bit of good news today that Mick Cunningham is back living in Bradford and birding our area if only for a couple of weeks but time for him to turn us something up. No pressure there Mick, shame that you also was rained off at Ogden.
