At last, Osprey for Queensbury
A chain of events today just fell into place for a change.
A text this morning of a single Wheatear down Old Guy Rd from DW geared me up to go back to work in the car and check the area on route taking the big guns camera with me.
Nothing developed around the cricket field area but this left me with the car and camera at work.
Just before 1430 hrs a call from Andy Cockroft reporting an Osprey over Northowram and heading for Queensbury. Andy made me laugh calmly saying," if you,ve a couple on minutes spare pop out in the car park, theres an Osprey heading your way".
You can imagine what happened next, spanners up in the air, car keys out, camera at the ready and then the wait.
After possibly 10 minutes nothing so I put the camera away and a final look around before I went back in the garage sulking.
Suddenly, high above me and barely visible was a strange shape which looked like two birds together until it came out of the cloud and turned, OSPREY !
Back to the car and firing shots like somebody gone mad at the bird which was mega high and drifting in and out of the clouds.
It must have seen me taking photos as it suddenly turned and did a lap of honour before heading off >NE over the Dailie fields and heading for the Aire valley.
A call to HC at Oxenhope to alert him found him at Barden where the bird or another passed late afternoon.
Many thanks to AC for the quick alert call getting me a superb sighting 5 years from my last one.
