Green Lane Little Owls, end of an era.

Little Owls have bred here for at least 8 years

Little Owls have bred at the above site on Green Lane for at least 8 years being successful each year but unfortunately they will now have to find a new site due to the ruined barn being demolished and a house already part built. The stone building opposite the breeding wall where the Owls used to roost is also to go to make a garage for the house leaving just a large cow shed standing which the owls use for shelter in severe weather. Hopefully that will remain untouched.
The farmer has had planning in for the dwelling for about 20 years, so I,m told, and people thought it would never happen but as always the birds loose out.
There are plenty dry stone walls in the area and disused buildings in Shibden valley so Im sure they,ll re settle but it will feel strange not going to visit the Green Lane Little Owls.
