Anytime now a white bobbing rump on a dry stone wall will mean the Wheatears are heading back through our moorlands to high land to breed.
Reports usually start to come in early April but birds started to be seen in Calderdale at the early date of 15th March in 2012 though last year reports were towards the end of March into early April.
One of the hotspots around here is Soil Hill where the first reports of local sightings usually come from although Wheatears can be picked up around any of our moorland so watch out for on those walls and see how early you can record one.
Hoped to check Raggalds Flood for Wigeon today but with a BRI hospital appointment and a district nurse meeting at lunch time , birding once again flopped.
