A wintery scene at Fly Flatts
The Huskies
Canada geese numbers rising
More Njger seed down
Goldeneye at Ogden
Canadas Ogden
Mallards Ogden
Friday/Saturday there would have been Whoopers on this picture.
Fly Flatts 0700-0845hrs Strong ENE>6 Snow showers with ankle deep covering but clear.
A better morning than expected with the fog finally gone after 5 days. An icy cold wind was blowing and nearly 2 hours up there was enough. Plenty Canadas on the water and on the moor with 8 Red Grouse looking odd in the snow but understandably still no Curlew or Oystercatchers around in the conditions.
Another bag of Nyger down to hopefully entice some Twite though this morning there was probably more chance of Snow Buntings.
Ogden 0900-1000hrs Snow showers and a good covering of snow but wind down to ENE>4.
No return of the Whoopers which will probably be well on their way to Iceland now and probably better weather. Just 4 Canadas and a m Goldeneye on the water plus the usual Mallards and small gulls which I scanned through for Kittiwake with several moving at the moment but not to be. Kittiwakes Ive had locally in the past always seem to turn up in gale force winds and lashing rain.
Well at least with the fog gone the morning was birdable and hopefully I,ll get a late afternoon session in.
