DCB at his Sentry Hill watchpoint from Soil Hill
The man himself zoomed in.
Plenty blogging Skylarks
Meadow Pipits ready to move
Swallows piling through the col
80+ Goldfinch but very unapproachable.
A slow start to the day due to the nasty blue stuff in the sky but by midday things had livened up with Swallows and Meadow Pipits over and as I arrived at the Ned Hill watchpoint at 1600hrs Swallows were pouring through the col >S with over 300 roughly counted in less than 2 hours. A phone call to DCB at Oxenhope found he was getting the same making him stay at his position till 1700hrs from about 0530 this morning, hows that for dedication. He was well rewarded with 21 Buzzard over in about 3 hours, doesnt he make you sick!, see Daves report on Dave Barkers blog, Oxenhope Watchpoint, from the link on the right.
Up to 10 Skylark were present and around 40 Mipits and the flock of 80+ Goldfinch were busy feeding on thistle tops though well down below the track so no decent shots. I would have had as when I arrived they were on the track but as I got nicely in range 3 horse riders came past and scattered them, why does that always happen ?
Hopefully the sky will be grey instead of blue in the morning over Fly Flatts.
