The Redwings are coming

Brighter skies to the SE

Flock of moving Twite >S

Twite at the feeding station

Fly Flatts 0715 - 1015hrs. Early low cloud and heavy rain turning to light showers. SSW>4-5

Once again a poor start with cloud and rain slowing down any movement although there was always something in the sky to keep you alert. Just after a phone call to DCB ,who said they were getting Redwing, 2 came over and dropped down into the Dean Head valley. Later on 2 more came over the Nab >S and as I was driving home passed Hunter Hill a single bird dropped down into the trees there.
Otherwise it was small numbers of birds but a good variation. A Carrion Crow had me going in the distance with a bill nearly as long as a Curlews. Good to see moving Twite as well as some on the station.
