The joy of wader watching. Fly Flatts.

                                    Expectant father, Oystercatcher.

                                    1 of 4 Dunlin

                                    Single Ringed Plover
                                    1 of 4 Common Sandpiper

                                    Dunlin displaying

An icy cold morning at Fly Flatts with a biting, moderate NNE>4 gusting 5 with 50% cloud and some sun at 7 degrees.
Firefighters still in attendance on the south shore but with the noisy generator and pump shut down it allowed waders to visit the SE corner which is in ideal condition at the moment. All the usual waders present with 9 Redshank, possibly double this count with several nesting, 4 Dunlin, which are looking to breed again this year, 4 Common Sandpiper, a low count for this site, 1 Ringed Plover and a single Oystercatcher with its mate away sitting eggs. Curlew numbers are falling with some non breeders already left the area.
A few Swallows >N whilst 8 LBB gulls were on the north shore as well as a few Meadow Pipits around, plus the usual species.
A bright morning forecast for tomorrow with a light NE strengthening after midday with a start temp of 7 degrees.
