A cold and windy Fly Flatts

Rare species at Fly Flatts these days
                                           Golden Plover

                                    Just 3 Dunlin showing

                                    Female Pied Wagtail feeding young

                                        1 of 4 Oystercatcher.

Another icy cold ENE>5 at 4 degrees with near full cloud but good visibility.
Another attempt at the west bank was soon aborted with the moderate to strong ENE wind in the face and unable to keep the scope steady so put off for another day.
Much quieter this morning with all the Redshanks on the far north banking out of the wind so no sign of the Ruff. Just 2 Common Sandpipers on the peninsular whilst 3 Dunlin were in the SE corner and 4 Oystercatchers were present.
With 4 windsurfers on the water, making the best of the strong wind, the water remained empty with all the geese and goslings up in the long sheltered grass.
A Heron flew low across the water, a rare bird for this site , apart from frog time, which has been wiped out this year with all the spawn being left high and dry with no rain and the dyke dried up.
Up to 7 Wheatear moving around the shoreline, all females, as the males moved through earlier, but numbers well down, and Meadow Pipits are nearly none existent this year.
Good to finally find a single Golden Plover in the Withins field, just waiting for Dotterel now. It was 1st and 2nd of May 2017 when 2m and 1f turned up in the Nolstar field, but a good flock of Golden Plover were always to be found up there at this time of year.
A very light N then NE for morning with a start off temp of 2 degrees with cloudy sunshine.
