Ogden in the rain

                                    Nuthatch on the feeders

                                    Very few Black Headed gulls.

A very wet start to the morning with very heavy rain and fog clearing by 0830 hrs then rain again by 0930 hrs on a light NW>3 at 6 degrees.
A bad start to the morning when the fog and heavy rain made me cancel birding and settled for a very wet dog walk over Foxhill. As I got back at 0830 hrs the rain stopped and the sky cleared so a quick change of plan found me at Ogden.
Very few gulls this morning with just 18 Black Headed and 4 Common, some on the water and others using the gantry as the banking where they liked to preen is now underwater.
The west bank alders were lively with a good flock of around 12 Coal Tits working their way along the waters edge along with a single Chaffinch and 3 Goldcrest. A single Nuthatch was on the feeders as well as more Coal Tits and the usual species.
By 0930 hrs the mist clouds rolled in bringing heavy drizzle then rain so I gave the east bank a miss and headed home.
Looking part cloudy for morning on a light SE turning S and a drop in temperature.
