Winter conditions, Fly Flatts

                                Re-appearance of the Ringed Plovers

                                    Single Oystercatcher
                                    At least 6 Common Sandpiper

Another wintery morning at Fly Flatts with, contrary to the weather forecast of light wind, a strong
SW>5 gusting 6 was blowing making the temperature of 8 degrees feel much colder. Full dark cloud was bringing horizontal drizzle over the moor and the camera was working wide open on winter settings.
Good to re-locate the pair of Ringed Plovers after 2 days absence and looking now as is they are not interested in breeding, although a few weeks back they were acting as if they had a chick ?
A male Tufted dropped onto the water making me look twice for Common Scoter  whilst a Peregrine skimmed over the water, which is only my second sighting this year at this site, something I'm not complaining about. Other raptors were a single Kestrel and Buzzard.
Otherwise it was down to the usual Common Sandpipers, Oystercatcher and Redshank as well as Swifts and a few LBB gulls overhead.
Another cold and very windy morning forecast for tomorrow with the wind coming from the west. I surely must be due for something dropping in anytime now.
