The wild side of birding, Fly Flatts

                                Skimming the high waves

                                1st returner, Common Sandpiper
My earliest on record by 9 days.

usual 1 of 4 Ringed Plover

A very windy morning but dry and clear with 90% cloud and bursts of sunshine at 5 degrees.
A surprise to find an early Common Sandpiper which has returned 9 days earlier than all my previous years records. The 1 of 6 Oystercatcher that had one leg tangled up with bailing band has now cleared itself and is free from obstruction.
A single Grey Wagtail was unusual but otherwise, the same as previous species, with 4 Ringed Plover, plus Curlews, Lapwings, 2 Pied Wags and the usual geese, Mallards etc. With the early arrival of Common Sandpiper, Dunlin is the next expected wader on the list.
A much lighter wind in the morning with early rain but visibility given as poor, exit the wind, enter the fog.
