                                2 Redshank present
                                    Usual 4 Ringed Plovers

Star Prize.  5 Shelduck on the NW shore
Still there as I left at 1000 hrs
                                A good morning for Herrings
                                    Swarms of Meadow Pipits

A cloudy cool start to the morning at Fly Flatts with a light NE>3 at 3 degrees and 90% cloud with odd bursts of sun but improving as the morning went on.
A good morning for Herring gull movement with 23 on and around the water before moving off >NE along with 4 LBBs. Hopes for a Kittiwake this morning never developed but 5 white dots way over on the NW corner banking looked interesting and when scoped turned out to be 5 Shelduck all sleeping on the edge of the banking. Just some distant record images as I didnt want to walk on the west bank and risk flushing them after what had probably been a long journey for them and were now quite settled and still sleeping as I left.
Two drake Teal were on the water with the Mallards in the NE corner along with the usual Canadas and Greylags. Waders were the same with 4 Ringed Plover, 2 Oyks, 2 Redshank plus a good count of Lapwing and Curlew.
A Buzzard was over the moor and the unusual sight of 4 singing Skylark which is a rare occurrence here and not seen for the last 3 year. Usually I just get one or two moving through and some singers in the lower fields towards Wainstalls.
