A glorious morning to be on the moor today with full blue sky and sunshine at minus 1 degree on a light SW>2.
Much quieter than yesterday but plenty to see and a pleasant walk the length of the west bank.
Several Mallards on the water as well as 27 Canada geese whilst Herring gulls headed >SW in dribs and drabs and a single Cormorant flew over the water high and >NW.
A Kestrel and Raven were again over the Nab and 3 Reed Bunting, 1 pair of Blackbirds and a Wren were in the compound area.
On the way back around 50 Fieldfare were in the Withins field and several gulls were on the Crossroads Inn football field including 1 Herring 15 Common and 8 Black Headed. One Black Headed worn a white leg ring VS20 which I believe to be from Denmark but awaiting a reply to my e mail.
Mid afternoon and I should have had more sense than visit Ogden on a sunny day where the car parks were heaving and Ogden Lane was fast becoming grid locked.
A check of the water just provided around 100 small gulls, 75% being Commons whilst a check on the west bank turned up nothing at all with not a bird of any description in sight. The feeders held the usual Tit species including 6 Long Tailed.
Late News... Just received report and photo from NK of the above ringed BH gull who saw it at Ogden as an adult 26/10/2012, and amazing 11 years ago. Thanks Nigel.
