Gull fever, Leeshaw Reservoir

                                  Small group of Lapwing present
                                  Upside down flyer

                                    Only 7 Herring gull

                                Around 500 small gull

                                    Lapwings in the field

                                Misty conditions
Still some very young looking 1st winter Black Headeds

Thick fog again at Queensbury this morning but took a gamble on Leeshaw, which paid off, being just below the cloud base with dark skies on a E>2 at 3 degrees but workable with half decent visibility.
Gulls were showing well with around 500 small, either on the water or in the big goose field, so they were reasonably easy to check through. A good selection of both Common and Black Headed with an interesting variation of ages, though nothing standing out as special and only 7 Herring gull present.
A group of 28 post roost Mallard were on the water but left by 0830 hrs heading for the fields whilst another male Goosander had appeared making 2 male and 1 female so far. No sign of the big Greylag flock with just 11 on the water along with 4 Canada.
A small group of 8 Lapwing were mobile, moving from field to field as well as a few Fieldfare.
Otherwise it was down to the usuals.
