A bright clear morning but not at Fly Flatts with the usual dark clouds from the west and light drizzle throughout the watch. A moderate SW>4 was whipping up the water at 5 degrees.
The usual October lull continued for this site with just 4 species seen. A group of 36 Mallard dropped onto the water coming up from Dean Head where they roost on a night whilst 3 Meadow Pipits were in the compound.
A low number of Woodpigs were moving >S which were unfortunate enough to over fly the Peregrine which immediately launched after them with a very near miss with one which luckily escaped but lost a load of feathers in the progress. Several dropped down onto the moor lying low in the heather till the danger was over.
The car is in dock tomorrow for possibly a week so apart from wandering around Foxhill I,m grounded. Hopefully I,ll be able to keep the blog going with a few Queensbury sightings plus plenty incoherent drivel.
