FLY FLATTS                            Cormorant over >NE

                                              Single Dunlin on the shoreline

                                         2 cy Herring gull

THORNTON FIELDS           Plenty gulls to sift through.
                                               Dark LBB gull, intermedius
                                                   1 of 2 intermedius.

                                                        the 2nd bird.

                                              Yellow Legged Herring gull

Fly Flatts early afternoon was a bit livelier with the cooler temp and stiff NW>4 with cloudy sunshine.
At last a single wader had appeared with a juv Dunlin on the shoreline. A Cormorant went over high and >NE, an unusual sight for this location whilst just a handful of Herring and LBBs were on the north shore.
Meadow Pipits were heading >S in migration mode as well as Swallows whilst 5 Stonechat were in the top field area.
A shout from MP reporting good numbers of gulls in the new ploughed fields at Thornton got me over there for a quick check where around 200 gulls were present after several had left due to a Peregrine fly over.
One, possibly 2, Yellow Legged Herring gull were present but brief  views of both birds as the first one I found went behind LBBs before crouching down and the second bird found by Mark flashed its legs briefly but dropped down and went to sleep before I could get the camera on it.
Two very dark LBBs were contenders for intermedius but not dark enough for Fuscus.
Thanks to Mark for the shout, watch this space !
