                                            Wintry scene at Ogden

                                                              Early morn at Ogden

A bright crisp morning with clear blue skies although a trip to Fly Flatts had to be aborted due to icy roads so diverted to Ogden instead. A cold NW>3 was blowing at -1 degree but good clear skies.
Very busy with the public ,which I expected it quiet with the holidays over, and very quiet with the birds. A full circuit of the water produced 3 Gt Spotted Wdpecker in one tree, a single Robin and Wren and around 50 small gulls on the water and that was it, back home by 0930 hrs.
A mid afternoon visit to Mixenden was livelier though still no return of Goldeneye but 2 Greylags on the water was unusual for this site. Only 6 Herrings today and all argenteus and no sign of yesterdays argentatus but 2 ad LBBs were present along with around 100 small gulls, all carefully checked for a Med gull, along with a Cormorant and a pair of Mallard.
A Heron settled on the west bank whilst a Barn Owl was showing in the distance.
