Big Pinkie moving morning,Fly Flatts/Swallow afternoon,Oxenhope reservoir.

OXENHOPE RESERVOIR                 Buzzards >SE
A big move of Buzzard over Manchester today
FLY FLATTS                       Pink Footed Geese galore
Looking like strings of cotton in the air.
Very distant to the south moving >E
Had to put them in high contrast to pick them out in the milky sky.
9 Skeins in all, 1796 Pinks
                                                   5 Stonechat present

A bright clear blue sky morning with sunshine,on a NW>3 at 6 degrees.
All quiet until 0900 hrs then the flood gates opened with Pink Footed Geese piling through. They were very distant to the south of me all heading east but towards the sun in very milky skies making viewing difficult and photos even worse. I didnt think the 300mm lens would have picked them up but putting them on full contrast I could get a count though some of the skeins were barely visible.
I thought I had a good count but further south the vis miggers there had amazing numbers with
Anglers CP....8000
Manchester...10000
Harden, Penistone..6000
Low Moor...........3000
plus several sites were getting Whooper Swans.
Other than the Pinks, Swallows were trickling through whilst 5 Stonechat were present.
Mid afternoon at Oxenhope Reservoir saw a continuation of Swallow movement with birds piling through all the hour that I was there. A Buzzard moving day with 4 >SE coinciding with a good count over Manchester. Otherwise it was just the usual species with a moderate count of gulls.
