Gulls Geese and Gales, Fly Flatts. (permit only)

                                  High tide at Fly Flatts

Like being on Scarboroughs Marine Drive.
                                                        White Horses

                                      Just 4 Stonechat present today

Pink Footed geese on the move.
These were well to the south of me
                                           Herring gull on the water
                             Big gulls battling the waves
                            Several big gulls moving

More Pinkies to the north of me.

                                                    105 in this skein.

  • Coldest morning yet at 5 degrees but feeling much colder in the strong NW>5 at 23 m.p.h. increasing to NW>7 near gale at 33 mph by late afternoon. Patchy cloud and the sun was a problem.
  •                    A quiet start with very little moving in the wind but by 0850 hrs the first skein of Pink Footed Geese came over followed by another 2 skeins plus more passing the Oxenhope watch point, some of which I couldnt get onto and visa versa despite a good effort of team work between DCB, HC and myself.
  • The geese were all distant to me passing either well to the north or well to the south though all were heading >SE.
  •                               Herrings and LBBs were moving >NW into the wind along with a few Mipits whilst other Mipits headed>SE. A group of 8 Chaffinch over was unusual for this site but only 4 Stonechat showing today as well as a single Wheatear.
  •                           Raptors were active in the wind with 2 Merlin, 2 Peregrine and 4 Kestrel.
  • I also got your Barn Owl on the way home Dave ta.
