                                                      Gulls on the north shore
Ad Yellow Legged Herring gull, michahellis
                                         A third different Yellow Legged

                                             Lining up
Another wave of ad Wheatears moving through
                                                  new arrival, Common Sandpiper
First wader for a few days.

  • Eck was it hot. The temperature started off at 22 degrees early morn and reached a record for this site of 28 degrees by late afternoon though the cool E>4 made it more workable. A shopping trip round Brighouse midday found the temperature at 31 degrees and very little breeze. This heat , plus a masked face in shops, got me red as a Turkey cock.
  •                                         A higher number of gulls was on the north shore with 3 juv Herring, 32 LBBs and another new Yellow Legged Herring gull, this one being an adult.
  • The first wader for a few days arrived when I found a Common Sandpiper, firstly on the NE mud, and then on the west bank.
  • Another wave of  adult, autumn plumaged Wheatears were moving through whilst a Peregrine sent all the gulls and Geese into the water.
  •                                     Despite the weather there was a small attempt of sky movement with Alba Wagtails, Mipits and Swallows moving over the water.
  • This is another day the thunderstorms never appeared apart from a few rumbles to the west at 0300 hrs this morning. Tomorrow is thankfully forecast to be a bit cooler.
