A double dose of Leeshaw.

A field full of Starling, Redwing and Fieldfare

The centre very white headed Herring stood out
Couldnt get anything better on it at the distance
                                       and dark conditions.

                                          Plenty gulls through.
                                      Distant Goosanders.

Fog over the tops this morning but Leeshaw was below the cloud base with reasonable conditions although the wind was still moderate W>5 with 90% cloud cover at 8 degrees.
Canada goose numbers are starting to build now with 24 present but no sign of the Greylag flock. The water held the usual Mallards and Goosanders whilst a fast flying female Teal skimmed low over the conduit landing out of sight at the west end of the reservoir.
The stubble field was popular with a large mixture of Fieldfare, Redwing, Starling and small gulls along with 9 Lapwing.
Gulls were again moving through >W but mainly Commons and Black Headed with just 19 Herring and 1 Lesser Black Backed.
By late afternoon the sky was closing in giving very dark conditions and the wind changed direction and decreased to N>3 with drizzle throughout.
Very similar bird wise to this morning but no Fieldfare etc in the stubble field though gulls were still active. One adult Herring gull stood out on the water with a brilliant white head but in the conditions and distance that was as far as I got with it.

Re your e mail , as advised I have stopped using the on line recording sheets as you are happy taking reports from my blog. In hopes of making it easier for you I will list the species seen at the bottom of each entry listing also the common birds seen. Anything special turning up or birds of a sensitive nature which are omitted from my blog I will e mail to you. Any problems with this let me know.
