Leeshaw a.m / Fly Flatts p.m

               Woodpigs piling over Leeshaw

                                      Lapwings on the move
                                       Plenty Fieldfare >NW

                                   Flocks of very high Fieldfare
Herring gulls coming in to Fly Flatts last light.
                                       North shore.

At last a decent days birding with several movers from the start.
Fly Flatts was in the fog as per usual but a gamble at Leeshaw reservoir paid off with clear skies on a cold NE>5 at 6 degrees. Some drizzle clouds passed through
but improved as the morning went on with even a touch of blue sky showing.
LEESHAW..              A boost to start me off as soon as I got out of the car with 2 Shelduck over high and >W whilst Woodpigeons were coming over in good flocks >SE.
Lapwings and Redwings were also moving as well as Starlings.
The water held several BH gulls along with 2 LBBs whilst around 200 Black Headed gulls were in surrounding fields along with Stock Doves and Jackdaws.
FLY FLATTS                        A late afternoon visit found it very dark with drizzle and a strong NE>6
with skies improving by mid watch.
Two Tufted were on the water whilst 4 Stonechat were around the boatyard but way too dark for decent photos. Just before I left Herring gulls started arriving from the
SW landing on the water and north bank with a count of 47 Herring and 12 LBB.
