Proof of breeding, Wheatear feeding young.
Distant shot in heat distortion .
4 Wheatear present
A day of decent conditions with a light NNW >3 with good visibility and 7 okt cloud cover at 16 deg.
By the second watch the wind had increased and swung round to NE>4 with 4 okt cloud cover and some sunshine.
Not a wader in sight today apart from 8 Lapwing moving high and >E with just Gulls, Geese and Mallards on the shore line. Swifts and Swallows were moving whilst 2 Red Legged Partridge were running down the track from the top gate.
The highlight appeared this afternoon with 2 adult Wheatear near the feeding station and then it got better. Nearby, a Wheatear was feeding a young bird proving, as Id suspected, breeding at Fly Flatts with a definite 1 and possibly 2 pairs bred.
The water is still rising and is back to the level it was at one month ago with water still pouring in. This will delay start of the work possibly taking it into the spring next year.
