A full day of rain and low cloud with a SW>3 increasing to SW>5. This morning the mist hardly cleared with bank after bank of fog and rain piling through. By the late afternoon watch the rain continued not stopping until the last 30 minutes of the watch. Poor visibility this morning with the mist and this afternoon with the rain and poor light putting everything into silhouette.
Understandably, very little sky movement today but another good wader day with yet another Sanderling along with a Common Sandpiper but over on the north shore and well out of range for any pics. The Common Sandpiper was identified through the scope mainly on jizz although I could just make out the bracers. The Sanderling was easy as it was another juv standing out in brilliant white, I hope it was,nt a Little Stint!
A third small wader was present in the mist but a check this afternoon made me suspect that it was a Ringed Plover with at least 6 darting about on the mud, again way over in the NE corner but no sign of this mornings waders.
Hopeful todays rain plus overnight rain will provide the goods tomorrow if the fog keeps away.
