The sort of weather conditions where anything can happen with a moderate S>5 bringing rain and drizzle with 8/8 cloud cover but visibility was reasonable despite a low cloud base.
The wind increased by late afternoon to S>6 with continuous heavy rain throughout.
Unfortunately the Peregrine had bet me to Fly Flatts this morning and had already cleared the shorelines and was just leaving the ponds area with an unlucky Wheatear.
A single female Tufted was out on the water and still present on the second watch with a second Tufted over >S.
Gulls and Swallows were coming through early morning but no waders.
Unfortunately a tyre going down forced me to an early finish to go get it renewed but DJS took over as I left.
The late afternoon watch was quieter in the heavy to torrential rain but 2 Mistle Thrush went through west whilst 2 Ringed Plovers flew low over the water very fast in migration mode heading >S without landing. If one had,nt called I,d have probably missed them.
Hopefully the expected overnight rain will drop the waders in tomorrow.
