Amazingly, after this mornings weather, conditions were good at Fly Flatts though just a bit too windy but a westerly so can,t complain about that. A brisk walk along the west bank and then 1 hours sky watch with plenty to keep me alert throughout, these westerlies at Fly Flatts really do the trick.
Gulls were the main contestants with a steady flow of Herring and Lesser Black Backed whilst raptors were up with 1 Buzzard getting mobbed by Lapwings, 4 Kestrel and a Peregrine low and fast across the moor.
Driving back, the field opposite the wind farm entrance was alive with birds and a quick stop and check found a large Starling flock with Fieldfares, Lapwings and Golden Plover mixed in with them. By the time I,d snapped a couple of photos the whole shebang lifted up and dropped over the wall into the lower field and out of sight.
