Plenty big gulls on the move >NE
Another pleasing morning weather wise at Fly Flatts with 40% cloud cover , blue skies and some sunshine on a light NW>4 with a temp of 0 degrees.
The first half of the watch was quiet with just the usual Mallards, 2 Stonechat and several Snipe starting to get vocal on the moor.
The last 30 minutes was spent sky watching when things started to happen with firstly a 1st winter Great Black Backed gull over but coming out of the sun so it was over me in a flash going low over the water and landing briefly at the north end of the reservoir before moving off >NE.
Gulls suddenly started to appear coming over from the SW and flying over the water heading off >NE. Mainly LBBs with at least 2 Intermedius among them with a count of 107 as well as 8 Herring gull. A good finale to the mornings watch.
