After a day of thick fog up here on the tops Fly Flatts had disappeared off the face of the earth by 1500 hrs so the nearest option was Ogden with was just below the cloud base with visibility half way across the water but as dark as night with a very light SE>3.
Around 100 small gulls were on the water but soon began to move off to roost with several fly throughs all heading for TMR. The usual Mallards were on the water but no sign of the 2 previous Wigeon.
J.L.s passerine flock were moving through the Alders on the west bank but very mobile and no chance of even attempting a photo in the dark conditions. Eventually they all flew over the water towards passerine alley disappearing into the mist.
The best I could make out was 8 Redpoll, 4 Chaffinch,
around 30 Goldfinch and at least 2 Siskin.
Back at the car park ,just in time before the 1600 hr gate lock, several Goldfinch were in the usual pre roost tree but none of the other species with them.
A skein of Pink Footed geese came over the garage this morning contact calling just after 0930 hrs but couldnt be seen in the fog. They sounded low and heading >W.
