A pleasant last hour of daylight at Fly Flatts with perfect conditions, light NW> 3 with 80% cloud cover at 7 degrees. Although this was perfect conditions for me ,not so for the birds, in contrast to yesterday things were very quiet with the big gull movement dried up.
Very quiet skies today other than 2 Kestrel and 3 Black Headed gulls moving >SE whilst the water held 37 Mallard and 3 Teal.
An odd sighting of 9 Meadow Pipits heading >S was unusual unless they know something we dont.
Midday driving past Shelf Moor , Cross Lane field, on the way to Brighouse there were around 40 Lapwings and at least 10 Golden Plover.
Raggalds Flood on the way to Fly Flatts held 36 Lapwing ,4 Mallard and a female Tufted.
10 days to the shortest day and counting. Darkness dropped in early today with the cloud cover at Fly Flatts ,where yesterday I was birding to 1600 hrs today it was lights out at 1530 hrs.
