Sunday morn at Fly Flatts

2 distant Wigeon brought down in heavy rain.

A late start at Fly Flatts with first light not appearing until 0745 hrs with a light NNE > 3 and light rain.
A walk on the west bank to the NW corner only produced 12 Mallard and 2 Canada geese with no signs of visible migration in the sky. A few Meadow Pipits were blogging and around 4 Red Grouse were vocal.
By 0900 hrs the wind had increased and turned N>5 with heavy rain and mist starting to appear over the moor. As I was thinking of calling it a day a Buzzard flew low over the water heading >W and whilst I was looking at that through the bins 2 Wigeon came in from the west and landed at the north end of the water. A few minutes later as I was trying to get the above record shots the Mallards took off and headed down to Dean Head which in turn must have spooked the Wigeon as a further scan failed to find them.  A pleasing morning with the Wigeon being my first this year.
