1500 hrs at Fly Flatts in a moderate SE>5 with very hazy sunshine blanking off all viewing to the west with a blanket of haze across the moor.
Continuing the recent move of Goosander a rare visit from an adult male in eclipse which was on the water then settled down across on the east bank near to the Mallards which were today down from 58 to 14. Up to 8 Kestrels were in the air whilst a female Merlin did a quick blast through. A Mistle Thrush low over the water then off >SE was an unusual sight and a single female Stonechat was around the boatyard area.
Several Pink Footed reports today from the Halifax lads but none for over Queensbury and all movement had dried up by the time I got to Fly Flatts.
A promise of a few days of gale force winds and rain to come may put a hold on vis mig but should stir up the waterfowl situation.
