Mouse for tea. Distant little Owl
My first Little Owl of the year.
With boat racing on at Fly Flatts and having made one visit there this morning , even though it was foggy, I took the opportunity to go to Leeshaw reservoir to check the gull situation and see if the annual visiting Yellow Legged Herring gull had returned as it does each July.
Disappointingly only 2 LBBs and 5 Black Headeds were present and very little else on the banking due to the childrens party venue and campsite in the farmers fields nearby.
Two Curlew were present along with 2 Oystercatchers and 12 Lapwing as well as the usual Canadas and Greylags. A few Swallows and Swifts were over the water and the local Little Owl, which has dodged me up to now was showing on a distant wall tucking in to a mouse tea.
Yet another disappointing visit to Leeshaw which used to bird so well but has done very little this year probably due to the added disturbance with campers wandering around the private reservoir grounds.
