The 6 Greylag chicks growing well now
4 Redshank at the south end
John Marsh up on the top road.
5 Snipe present
as well as 7 Snipe chicks.
Fly Flatts 1515 hrs with more blue sky and sunshine but compensated with a moderate E>4 making it pleasantly cool on the west bank.
Most of the waders were again along the east bank with 2 Dunlin and the usual Common Sandpipers along with 4 Redshank along the south shore.
Canadas, Greylags and Mallards were on the water with just Curlew and Lapwing in the air.
The tree by the lagoon held 3 male Reed Buntings whilst several Meadow Pipits were along the shoreline where the water is dropping rapidly though that may change tomorrow if the rainy forecast is right.
Easterlies always seem the get the Snipe out and today was no exception with at least 5 present along with up to 7 chicks keeping the adult birds alert stopping them from wandering too far away.
Nice to bump into John Marsh up there today, even though he was about half a mile above me up on the top road, but we had a good chat on the phone. Hope you got your target bird John.
