A third day of dense fog in Queensbury sent me downhill to Mixenden reservoir which was still above the cloud base but workable with visibility half way across the water which cleared before I left as heavy rain moved in.
Mallards, Canadas and a couple of Black Headed gulls on the water so I concentrated on the waterside trees along the west bank.
Not far along a Chiffchaff appeared skulking well down near the base of the trees and this was shortly followed with a very bright Willow Warbler higher in a tree.
Near the end of the watch the rain started and the fog lifted bringing more migrants out of the trees and flying across to the pine trees in the wood for shelter.
I ended up with at least 5 Willow Warblers and 3 Chiffchaffs . Three Goldcrests were very mobile whilst a Pied Wagtail and a Grey Wagtail were in the SW corner.
A pleasing hour despite the conditions until I arrived back in Queensbury to find the dense fog still present.
