Fly Flatts Early Morn.

                                        Water still 90 % frozen
Small clear area by the boathouse
                                 Nowhere to land

                                    Sunrise on the ice
                                       Still looking for water
Few Curlew back on the moor
                                            Plenty Red Grouse about

Bird of the day Herring gull

                         Over 200 >NE

0700 hrs and bright blue skies with banks of fog moving through but amounting to very little.
A risky drive down the track with still snow drifts but managed to get down and back ok.
The photography was hampered with the bright hazy sunshine and bright reflection off the large area of ice as well as most birds being distant.
Plenty Curlew calls from over the moor as well as Red Grouse and the haunting calls of Golden Plover mainly from the Flat moor area. Skylarks were an unusual find for this location with 3 in the air singing, not a common bird at Fly Flatts.
Herring gull were the bird of the morning with over 200 moving >NE.
