Leeshaw, 1500 hrs on a very dark grey afternoon and light rain.
In contrast to yesterdays 23 Wheatear , 2 Whinchat and around 30 Linnets plus this mornings visit to Fly Flatts with 15 Wheatear the visit today found a single Wheatear near the water and otherwise nothing else other than the usual gulls, geese and 6 Mallard.
1 2nd year Herring gull was in with 6 LBBs, the rest being c 80 BHGs in a distant new mown field. After a good search around it was off across the tops to Fly Flatts via Nab Water Lane for a bit of raptor watching.
By the time I,d parked up at Nab Water Lane the rain was pounding down so a search around in vain from under the tailgate of the car soon told me I was going to get nothing at this site so a move to the top road at Fly Flatts with the rain easing.
No time to go down to the water tonight where boats were sailing so nothing on the water. Once again no sign of migrants along the top walls and fields. Its amazing how these birds can appear then disappear so quickly when moving through.
